  3. okay so im just gonna open this up with this, i dont like tumblr. not because its this kinda website which just seems too politically correct or i have issues with it, just isnt my thing. just like myspace was, or for yous who are even older then that, piczo. however in recent times i feel like tumble ia becoming more and more of a breeding ground for hatred than anything else.

i suppose for my example im not talking about political shaming or views on things like gay marriage and abortion, as much as people might show hatred towards these ideas, gotta respect the fact its their view. i suppose im more talking about people you see who are named and shamed for being what they are, their sexuality and gender. reason why this come to my mind recently is i have a transgender friend whos lovely and theyre really nice at times, but they share a lot of bollocks they find from tumblr about gender fluidity and all sorts of these new developments of gender and sexuality, which talks about the idea of being "cis"-male or "cis"-female and/or a straight person as if they are wrong and not accepting of things in the 21st century.

now, im someone who identifies as a male, or cis-male for you tumblr fuckwits, but i just feel like.. people are being shamed, because they just accept who they are from birth, normally the gender a doctor has identified them, and later on in life at the start of early adolescence, they accept they are probably straight because its more culturally seen. being straight is wrong, and being your assigned birth gender is wrong too. its almost like its become its own cult following, and its quite uncomfortable now. amount of times a few people within societies at universities have argued against me being a "man" and a "straight person" doesnt give me the right to argue for peoples gender and sexualities because im just normal. its all bollocks.

so, question open for the floor, does tumblr just shame people for who they are, regardless of what it is?

  8. depends on the people on tumblr, i know some people who do shame and some people who dont. I go on tumblr (yeah shut the fuck up, follow me) and the people I follow don't shame people for being "cis" but I have seen it on other blogs, it's pretty evident on tumblr because its basically like the mother ship for LGBT+ people who come out and don't necessarily feel comfortable in society so anybody who is cis is like an outcast but it depends on the user(s)

  11. as much as i love and admire the internet for the purposes and comfort it gives to many people, a website shouldnt be considered a safehaven for many of the lgbt community, especially considering most of the people are from western civilised nations where its widespread accepted.

theres a reason i wouldnt make a tumblr, itd be a straight accepting one just to deliberately wind up the radical sexuality/gender associations.

  16. legitimate reason to not make a tumblr because its kind of the center for people to start arguments and if you have a wrong opinion you have like half the site coming after you for it. not gonna sugar coat it, tumblr is filled with over-sensitive people who have many things going on in their own personal life and strong opinions that they try to force on everyone else but thats in everyday life as well. it just so happens that a cluster of these people just so happen to be on tumblr

  19. oh lordy lord lord

i'll start off by saying that i've never really used tumblr. i had an account in 2014 that i honestly dont even remember the email for, and unlike most people i know i just don't see the appeal in it, like you said. however i do use twitter frequently, and it's basically the same from what i'm reading here. i mostly follow people in the "beyhive" (75% of which are gay) and black... activistishy people, cause they're funny and say shit i agree with.

THAT. BEING. SAID. and i'm treading lightly here: some of them are pushing it.

while usually points about the LGBT community and discrimination are accurate, some are really just shaming the idea of being cishet. one person i followed rt'd a tweet that said straight people shouldn't be annoyed with the use of "cishet," since that's literally what they are. while that's true i never see that term being used in a positive light. like ever. whenever i see a tweet starting with "cishet" i have to brace myself for whatever shit they gotta say next, cause it's usually an attack.

however if you point this out to anyone they'll say you're whining about being "oppressed." i don't think i'm being oppressed in that aspect. i get it, LGBT folk get shit on in the real world. but when you turn "being trans/gay/etc is okay" into "being straight was fucking stupid anyway" that's when it's annoying. otherwise, do your thing.

it's a problem in every movement. there's that one group of people that take it a bit too far and ruin everything everyone else is working for. for example:
some 30 year old i follow (she's funny stfu) was pregnant, and she posted an ultrasound of her kid with a blue durag. cute little way of saying "hey it's a boy." when i tell you all of "anti-cishet" folk rose from the ground and attacked her mentions, holy shit. but basically they were upset because she just "assumed" her child would want to be a boy or whatever, and that she should refer to him as an it/they until he's ready to... decide? it was as if the idea that maybe the kid--- who hasn't been fucking born yet -- may actually identify as what he was born as. shocker! it infuriated them that a mother, a fucking stranger, didn't want to call their child "they/it" when their sex was... right there. she said herself if it turns out he identifies as a girl, then it's a girl. otherwise it's her fucking newborn... that can't talk, so y'all will have to deal. hell they of all people should know there's a difference between what you're born as and what you identify as. of course it's a fucking boy for now.

this is also sort of an issue in racial movements as well. i'm gonna flat out say that reverse racism doesn't exist. getting stomped on because you used the n word isn't reverse racism, nor is me saying "white people don't season their food" because how the hell does that count as systematic oppression. those are usually just jokes. but i will admit some black people straight up bully white people for no reason. a lady once tweeted about how a white woman sat next to her somewhere, so she purposefully clutched her bag closer to her as if she was protecting it from said jar of bleach. the white chick looked hurt, and the lady said something about how white people steal too. while i get the point of what you were trying to do, that doesn't change the fact that it's a random lady who hasn't done a damn thing to deserve your hostility. and it's true white people do that to other blacks on the daily (happened to me before lol) but when you return the favor to some stranger, that's not helping a damn thing.

and since we can't leave this clusterfuck out, feminism is guilty of it too. once again, i'm a feminist. and once again, i'll admit some of y'all bitches are annoying. there's a tag on twitter called #MasculinitySoFragile which basically points out the flaws in the concept of "what it means to be a man." for ex; how men are taught they can't cry, they can't show emotion cause that's for "girls," how they're basically owed a woman, etc. again, that's cool and all until some of the posts were flat out "this is why i hate men" instead of "i hate what we're teaching men." there were also some guys that didn't get that masculinity didn't actually mean men itself, but the tag is so poorly worded i can't even be mad at them for assuming so. it reads like a "fuck men" tag and it's probably frustrating. and that's only one example. another was when a guy tweeted asking for men to share stories of something a woman said that hurt their feelings. some women/feminists poked fun at it, saying they probably "deserved" some of those things being said to them. remember, this is the same group of people that made the masculinity so fragile thing that didn't like how men weren't allowed to express emotion. now they express hurt over something a woman said and you... make fun of them for it. interesting.

tl;dr when i say "cops needs to stop killing people" and you say "not all cops" you're missing the point. when i say "straight people need to understand that their norms are forced upon us and we can't express ourselves" and you say "not all straight people" you're still missing the damn point. but when i say "if we rid the world of men it'd be a better place" that's unnecessary and ruins the fucking point.

i hope that mess makes sense.

  41. Personally I've been on Tumblr for like 6 years of my life on/off.. but I think there's two sides to tumblr. There's the aesthetic side where people just reblog pictures (this is where I am) and there's the side that finds everything and anything to knit-pick at and argue about. In the end though I do believe that that side of tumblr (the arguing side) is the side that really does shame people... It's run by a bunch of entitled and opinionated 15/16 year olds who've opened their minds and have accepted that people are different but are blind to the other side of things.. does that even make sense?

Long story short: Hell to the yeah. If you don't agree with the popular opinions that are on Tumblr, you're shunned, shamed and called the fuck out... but it just depends on what you do/what you blog.

  44. not always, no. there is a stigma to tumblr users that we all jump on the bandwagon for whatever it might be but a lot of us, myself included, are indeed welcoming and warm to everyone regardless of whatever they might identify as and at the end of the day everybody deserves respect to some extent. it takes two seconds out of your day to be polite to someone, and that can be applied into anything in life. i think a lot of tumblr users need to get a hobby instead of making people feel uncomfortable and upset for whatever people choose to identify as. it's unnecessary and doesn't make you look better at all. it makes you look like an asshole lmao

  47. Ask the same question with Facebook though tbh. As said above, shits loaded with porn and who can complain. My opinion though, it's a breeding ground for feminazis and political correctness. And stupid '#relateable' memes.

  55. im not gonna lie now my temptation to start a tumblr which calls out straight shaming and third wave feminists has increased a lot.
sane does go for twitter as tori said to be fair. tumblr is much less moderated on it however and can be quite in your face about things.

  58. id say facebook is by far the worst because most of its community post fake deep memes that never make sense.
this is still one of the funniest yet worrying memes ive ever seen
    [IMG]
nothing good ever comes from facebook. ever.

tumblr's problem is that while there are users like Trauma that actually know what they're talking about, there are others that barely grasp the concept of the movement they "support" and ruin it for everyone else. and since we all know people love to generalise, it's no surprise that those users are the ones people assume "represent" tumblr.

  61. Cis means anyone who is transgendered. So technically I am a cis female and (as far as I know) you are a cis male. Quite it is used in the phrase "cis-scum", "cis-trash", etc.

That being said, I will not participate in this debate because I can go on for years about how fucking tired of tumblr I am. I have one. Every time i try to use it to reblog funny shit someone ruins it by taking shit too seriously.

yes yes oh my god yes !
what I see happening is that people aren't always trying to offend other people (some are) but they're just too retarded that they end up trying to be so overly positive about one thing they end up shit talking anything that goes against that thing. Tumblr is basically a bunch of idiots that are trying so hard to be nice people/doing the right thing that they end up being probably some of the worst lmao.
